![]() August Monthly Spotlight Member Dr. Ellen Slicker, Health Service Psychologist Dr. Ellen Slicker is a licensed psychologist, recently retired from her long-time private family practice. She also served as a professor in the Psychology and Professional Counseling Department at MTSU for 25 years. Ellen holds degrees from the University of Kansas (B.A., M.A.), University of Northern Colorado (Ed.S.), and Texas A&M University (Ph.D.). Originally from a suburb of St. Louis, Ellen has lived in Kansas, Nebraska, Texas, and has called Murfreesboro home since 1991 with her husband Richard and their sons, Greg and Tim. She has served on numerous nonprofit boards, including United Way, Murfreesboro City Schools Foundation, the American Heart Association, and currently serves on the Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital Foundation Board. Ellen is active in the community, singing with the First United Methodist Church choir and the Middle Tennessee Choral Society. She is also a member of 100 Women Who Care and the Tennessee Association for Play Therapy. Since joining Rutherford Cable in 2014, Ellen has held various leadership roles in the ATHENA Program and was a nominee in 2021–2022. She is a founding member of Leaders Supporting Leaders, serves on the Special Events Committee, serves as a new member Cable Guide, and is a devoted Table Host. |
August Monthly Non Profit Spotlight Kymari House, Emily McKee Emily McKee, MSSW, IMH-E® is the Executive ![]() Director of Kymari House, a nonprofit in Middle Tennessee providing supervised visitation services for court-ordered families and HOPE (Health Outcomes from Positive Experiences) trainings for professionals and caregivers. An Infant Mental Health-Endorsed Master Social Worker, Emily brings nearly two decades of experience in child and family services, with a focus on trauma-informed care, systems advocacy, and equitable access to support. Kymari House is the only nonprofit in Middle Tennessee offering supervised visitation on a sliding scale, ensuring that even the most vulnerable families can maintain safe, meaningful connections. The organization also delivers evidence-informed training on the lasting effects of early childhood experiences to help build a more responsive and resilient network of care. Under Emily’s leadership, Kymari House has expanded its reach and deepened its impact in the areas of child abuse prevention, family stabilization, and community education. |
